(Technical difficulties on the post I promised using the remnant cotton - while I try to sort that one out, here's a look at the next project off my needles mid August at the cottage.)
Pattern: "Cabled Gloves" by Veronique Avery
Source: Knitting 24/7
Yarn: St. Denis Nordique
Colour: #5858 Red
Needles: 2.75mm
Start: August 11 Finish: August 24, 2011
Modifications: None
Making these a few weeks after finishing the "Nouveau Gloves" was an absolute snap. They are shorter, less patterned and yet also use twisted stitches to create those adorable tiny cables up the backs of the hands and around the cuff. So I once again fired up Glenna C.'s recommended technique for doing so without the use of a cable needle and I just flew along!
As for the St. Denis Nordique yarn - knitting with it is a pure "wool" experience. No flash or anything added to make it softer or stronger or glittery or chunky - its just old school red wool yarn made into understated yet stylish basic gloves. Great stitch definition but also a nice feel. As the yarn is described by the designer "Crisp yet soft"
Once the great experience of knitting them is done they feel good on the hand and I think their classic red colour will make them work with anything - other knits for sure or any coat I own.
I can definitely see revisiting this pattern but more so, looking into using St. Denis yarn again ASAP!
Once these were done I moved from woolly red stockinette, to bright apple green mercerized cotton - still from Knitting 24/7 but a real departure from these gloves in every other respect.
'Hope to "see" you tomorrow for that post and thanks for dropping by today!
